SnipWise Support
Get help with setup, privacy controls, billing, shortcuts, and troubleshooting for the SnipWise Chrome extension.
How to use SnipWise
Start a snip
Open a normal webpage and press Alt+X, or click the SnipWise extension icon.
Select the area
Drag over the exact part of the page you want AI help with, such as a paragraph, chart, math problem, table, or screenshot.
Review before sending
Check the preview. Drag over sensitive information to black it out before upload, then click Send to AI.
Ask follow-ups
Use the follow-up box to ask another question, clarify the answer, or paste another screenshot. Follow-ups count as AI prompts.
Privacy and control
What gets sent?
SnipWise sends the selected screenshot area, your prompt or follow-up text, and any screenshots you intentionally paste. It does not send the full webpage unless you select or paste that content.
Can I hide sensitive info?
Yes. The review screen lets you black out sensitive parts of the selected image before sending. Redaction happens locally in your browser before upload.
Do I need an OpenAI API key?
No. SnipWise uses a hosted AI service, so users do not need to manage separate OpenAI API keys.
Where can I read more?
See the SnipWise Privacy Policy for details about selected screenshots, prompts, usage limits, subscriptions, and service providers.
Billing and usage
Do follow-ups count toward my limit?
Yes. Screenshot questions, follow-up questions, and pasted-image questions each count as AI prompts.
How do I manage Pro?
Open SnipWise Options and choose the subscription or billing option. Payments and subscription management are handled through ExtensionPay and Stripe.
How do I restore Pro access?
Open SnipWise Options and choose the existing-customer login option. Then refresh plan status after logging in.
How many Pro prompts are included?
Pro includes 1,500 hosted AI prompts per month, with fair-use protection to keep the service reliable.
Troubleshooting
SnipWise does not open
Make sure you are on a normal webpage. Chrome extensions cannot run on protected pages such as chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or some browser-internal pages.
The shortcut conflicts
Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts and assign SnipWise a different keyboard shortcut.
The answer seems wrong
Try selecting a clearer area, include more of the surrounding context, or ask a follow-up that explains what you want SnipWise to focus on.
The panel is hard to see
Try zooming the page back to 100%, resizing the browser, or refreshing the tab. If it keeps happening, send a screenshot to support.
Report a bug or request a feature
Email snipwise.support@gmail.com with the issue, your Chrome version, your SnipWise version, the website type, and steps to reproduce the problem.
Please do not email passwords, private documents, or unredacted screenshots with sensitive information unless you are comfortable sharing them for support.
